In a related story (somewhat) of music distribution, […]

On this 40th anniversary of the summer of love, the classic rock era is still buzzing with enough electricity to keep this generation of baby boomers going all summer long. There are alot of salutes to the Monterey Pop Festival, where Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin both leaped from the local stage into the national spotlight.
There are several very nice […]

Dig back to the Summer of Love, 40 years ago. The year 1967 was alive with music coming from all directions by the creative talents of Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Mamas and the Papas, Byrds, Janis Joplin with Big Brother & The Holding Company, Jefferson Airplane, The WHO, The Association, Otis Redding, Canned Heat, Paul Butterfield’s Blues Band and Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Although the Beatles […]
Janis Joplin made her national debut with Big Brother and the Holding Company at the Monterey Pop Festival in June 1967. A smash hit group resulted with several more great albums before Janis went solo and did her own thing. And it was all great rock and roll music.
Cheap Thrills is one of my favorite classic […]
