A good friend of mine recently shared a great album with me. The best of Rare Earth, The Millennium Collection from 20th Century Masters. Rare Earth is one of my favorite rock bands from the early 70’s. This CD really gives you the best of both sides of the band…the tight funky arrangement from Norman Whitfield’s “(I Know) I’m Losing You,” to the jammin’ extended version of “Get Ready,” that rocks over 20 minutes in a live version.
Rare Earth was the first white group to be signed to Motown Records, and then had a hit song in 1969 with “Get Ready” (written by Smokey Robinson,) which was originally a hit for The Temptations.
Inside the CD sleeve, the website ilovethatsong.com/green was listed. So I looked it up, and it’s a pretty cool site. It features all the 20th Century Masters, and their catalog is huge. It’s /green because the CD packaging is recyclable. So check ‘em out.
