The 28th annual Long Beach Blues Festival takes place this coming Labor Day weekend, September 1st and 2nd, at Cal State University, Long Beach, California.

Koko Taylor & Her Blues Machine
Plus there will be two very special performances on Sunday September 2nd:
The Jimmy Reed Highway: A tribute to the music of the legendary electric bluesman Jimmy Reed, featuring Jimmie Vaughan and Kim Wilson (their first advertised engagement together since Vaughan departed the Fabulous Thunderbirds), plus Omar Kent Dykes, Lou Ann Barton and many other special guests.
The Honeydripper Allstars: a collection of blues artists performing the music from the upcoming motion picture “Honeydripper”, directed by John Sayles and featuring Danny Glover. The band will include Mable John, Gary Clark Jr, Eddie Shaw and many others. There will also be an exclusive screening of the movie at the festival on Sunday, September 2 at the Carpenter Center.
Global Jazz, Inc. are the new operators of KKJZ 88.1 FM, America’s Jazz and Blues Station and Omega Events produces festivals throughout the West Coast.
