Billboard reports Ringo Starr has agreed to release his solo albums in digital form for the first time.  His online catalog will include Beacoups of Blues, Sentimental Journey, Ringo and Goodnight Vienna.  His EMI catalog will also be available in unprotected MP3 format, which follows McCartney’s first digital release, also without DRM protection.

Also on August 28, Capitol/EMI Music will release Photograph: The Very Best of Ringo Starr.  This will be the first ever best-of collection for Ringo, which is also being released in digital form, along with a Collector’s Edition CD & DVD which will contain music videos and promotional films for “It Don’t Come Easy,” “Sentimental Journey,” “Back Off Boogaloo,” and “Act Naturally.”   Read more at www.ringostarr.com.

So how far behind is the Beatles catalog?  We don’t know yet, but Ringo’s online albums will be available in August.
