CAKE has announced they will release two new albums this year through Upbeat records; “B-Sides and Rarities” (sometime this spring,) which features covers of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” and Barry White’s “Never, Never Gonna Give You Up”, plus other covers and CAKE originals.

The second release will be “Live at the Crystal Palace” sometime this autumn. There’s some great songs here and the band covers them all very nicely.

CAKE is inviting fans to submit videos for “War Pigs,” with the winner earning $1,000 (deadline is April 30!) Yeah, wouldn’t you just love to go to Sacramento, California to shoot the video with the band? And play a Black Sabbath song!

CAKE’s 5th and most recent studio album, “Pressure Chief”, was released in October 2004, and marked the band’s return to their indie roots. They have scheduled their sixth studio album to be released early in 2008.

Plus, there will be limited edition “scratch and sniff” album art, but limited in availability.
